What you need to bring with you :-

Your Driving License - If you have a provisional driving license (not a full car license), please ensure that you have Category A motorcycle entitlement.

For customers using their own machines - Your machine must be roadworthy and display a valid Road Fund License (Tax Disc). L Plates must be displayed at the front and rear, and of full size (not trimmed down in any way).
You will be asked to produce a valid insurance certificate or cover note, and a current MOT Certificate if applicable.

Clothing and Equipment - You can use your own helmet and gloves. We can provide these free of charge to use on the day if required. Advice on clothing and equipment is part of the CBT syllabus and you may find this helpful before any purchase is made. Wear warm clothing suitable for the day, and stout footwear. Trainers are not recommended for safety reasons.

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

1. What will happen on your CBT.

There is no time limit to completing your CBT. There is a set syllabus, and this is completed at your pace. It is not always possible to complete the CBT in one day, particularly if you are a new rider. All training to complete your CBT, is included in the fee. No further charges are made.
CBT is a training course, and not a test. The five elements are :-

  • A    Classroom Introduction
  • B    Off Road Theory Training
  • C    Off Road Practical Riding
  • D    Practical On Road Theory
  • E    Practical On Road Riding

2. Study the Highway Code.

If a poor knowledge of the Highway Code is shown to your instructor, he will need to spend additional time with you on this element, until he is satisfied that a reasonable knowledge is shown. It may be necessary for you to take additional study in your own time; this will mean you not completing the CBT on the day.

Have a great time on your CBT, your instructor will help you with your ongoing training needs. For more information call us on 01606 49084.

DAS Courses

DAS, or Direct Access Courses, are for the over 21 rider who wishes to ride a machine of any size from the day they pass their riding test. Cheshire Motorcycle Training uses Honda CB500 machines which are user friendly for the learner rider, with low weight, neutral handling, progressive power and a low seat height. The DAS course itself is available in various course lengths. To ascertain which course is suitable for you, the rider, we assess your riding skill and recommend the DAS course necessary to train you to pass standard. For a single price, we guarantee that you will pass your test on a 500cc machine. You pay once and pass. Training on the day of your test is included in the price.

Advanced Training

Pass Plus - Experience shows that when you pass your practical test, this is the point where the hard work of learning to ride your machine really begins. Pass Plus advanced training takes you that next critical step further from your test training. It is a one day course, using your own machine, lasting about six hours, and covering up to 200 miles over a variety of the best roads that Cheshire, Derbyshire, or North Wales can offer. You will be trained in advanced observation techniques, correct positioning for corners, overtaking, filtering, and all the aspects of every day riding which differs from the riding methods used to pass your test. The day is a brilliant way of boosting your skills and confidence, whilst setting you on the road to fast safe riding.
